Title says it all. Holidays were good, caught up with my family and did a whole lot of relaxing in general. Still scratching, still learning to mix, still picking up my bass every few days and hurting my fingers. Looking for a new place to live. I got a new phone (nokia e71), lost everybodies phone numbers. I wanna get some phat pants.

*bump*

Yes i’m still alive :P I’ve just been alot busier with life the past few months! Things are crazy at work, I bought a set of turntables + serato and have been having the time of my life with them, trying to find a new place to live, have been going out a hell of alot more then I probably should (so much live music, not enough sundays to sleep in after it all :P). I’ve got some holidays comming up soon, I might write some stuff here during them if I remember :)

I’ll tell ya what I want! (What I really really want!)

No I wont. The answer to which: Still beyond me!

Observations made in the past few months:

  • Playing bass guitar daily hurts my fingers.
  • Being paid monthly rules for a total of 48 hours and then sucks for the remaining 672-696 hours when you have the budgeting skills of a 5 year old.
  • While I maintain several addictions, my biggest will forever be music. I’d hate to add up the body count if I were forced to go a month without it.
  • When it comes to creativity: I’m a deer in headlights when put on the spot. My best moments are always right after inspiration.
  • I’m feeling the need to invest in a thesaurus. My year 12 English teacher is most likely giggling from her throne in the 7th layer of hell.
  • I’ve finally come to the age where I can appreciate my own company over the company of others. But we are talking for like… 6 hours tops!
  • Computer games need another “big bang”. Everything that comes out seems to have a week long appeal, a few weeks at max, then reverts back to being old news while we wait for the next – and the 2 problems with that is the real bangers are few and far between and at ~ $120 a pop they aren’t exactly enticing my business.

I wrote this a while ago but forgot to hit publish. Whoopsy!

I havn’t updated in a while because i’ve been very busy deciding what I want out of life. Still haven’t figured it out yet, but self discovery is pretty damn fun :) I guess it boils down to would I rather the comfort and stability of settling down or do I want the thrill of being my own person and limiting my responsibilities to myself. At the moment i’m living the later – but is that because I haven’t found somebody to settle down with or is it because its not what I want… vague stuff!

Time has the answer to every question, and i’m slowly learning patience, but the world is forever in a rush. If the general population slowed down for a minute they might just get a rare glimpse of what they have been missing out on – but will no doubt complain what the slow down cost them in “productivity”, because apparently making lots of money makes you a successful person.

I have done a lot of travel lately. And I wore a suit one day. That wasn’t fun. I went to Newcastle to see (hed) p.e and Kottonmouth Kings, and to Melbourne for a job interview (didn’t get the position, congrats to whoever did cause it would of been a sweet job!).

4 Day weekend comming up :) only plans so far is I have a date on sunday night. Seem’s everybody is going off the radar for the Easter holidays (ben+aaron+co are going to gladstone, daryls going to some huge rave, my new housemate stephen is going to harvey bay) so I might get some time where the house is empty enough for me to crank my bass :D I just got a Boss ME-20B and restrung my beast with some nice 55-110 guage Ernie Ball strings. I can tune down to C without too much discomfort playing, but i’m yet to drag some good sounds out of low tuning, but then again I havn’t put enough of my time into it yet.

Games wise I haven’t been doing much. A little bit of Audio Surf, finishing off Halo 3… mainly in preparation for the fact I disappear off the face of the planet whenever a new GTA comes out… bring on April 29 :D

Slacker then slack, but ya get that!

Wow, its February 08 already and I havn’t posted here yet! *slaps self*

What have I been doing you may ask? Oh… this and that… My main new years resolution was to learn the bass guitar, so I bought one and ive been mucking arround with that almost daily. Haven’t got any lessons yet, but I grabbed the number of a local instructor while I was at a music store picking up a new strap (got this massively comfy shoulder strap, pics later maybe) and I also picked up a fuckin awesome tab book with 200 bass guitar tabs with a ton of variety, everything from cream – sunshine of your love to system of a down – sugar (granted those are both ultra simple songs on bass, but it has hella hard stuff too like red hot chili peppers – higher ground)

Gaming wise I havn’t been doing a hell of alot. Playing various wow characters, kicking asses on cod4 and skate on xbox, played a handful of rounds of cpm22, and a few nights ago I downloaded the new version of warsow which kinda integrates painkiller style bunny hopping to make it easier for newbie’s to pick up the game. The dash key feels nerfed, but in general the game feels the best it ever has so far. blinja is throwing together a 2v2 TDM comp, so hopefully I can find a partner for that and smash a few faces :D

i’ve been absolutely blessed, 2 of my favourite bands are touring Aus together: Kottonmouth Kings and (hed) P.E. They are playing sunshine coast (thinking about it), coolangatta (prolly out of my reach transport wise), sydney (on a friday night, thinking about it), new castle (got my tickets :D), and a few dates in melbourne (cbf going there :P). So with the potential to see a pair of bands that i’ve been listening to almost religiously for over 8 years each, i’m very fuckin stoked :)

My 2 fav albums of the past while have been red hot chili peppers and incubus – s.c.i.e.n.c.e. I swear i’ve listened to both of those about 50 times each the past few months :D The main thing that sparked the chili love was reading anthony keidis’ autobiography. if your ever gonna read just 1 book this year, make it that one, seriously. it is actually a “hollywood story”, but not in the sense that you hear about so much. makes me think so much that I was born in california in a previous life :P

work has been weird without Daryl (he left to pursue a work-from-home style job), but things are defiantly progressing. We have done some big deals recently, leaving the DC a shade under 3 rows from needed the back wall knocked down, which is great seeing as tho the anniversary of moving into the DC is fast approaching. It’s been fair noisy lately because we are getting a 4th aircon unit put in, which requires blowtorchery which triggers the VESDA/FM-200 gas fire supression system which requires isoluation which means an audible alarm is sounded very loudly. What a mouthful!

So far 2008 looking a million times then 2007, here’s hoping it stays that way!

Mass Effect

Wow… totally not what I was expecting, but easily one of the best games this year. It combines Squad based 3rd person shooter style combat, A dialogue/outcome system that can only be described as “Knights of the old republic on crack” and a very in depth galactic storyline including story telling about times era’s ago. If your only going to buy 1 single player game this year, its gotta be this one. Has both my thumbs up!

Guitar Hero 3

MMMMMY GOD! Such a fun game!  I got it on xbox 360 last week (or was it the week before? lifes so bluuuuury!) and ive just been shredding every time I get a spare block of 5 or more minutes at home. i’ve finished all of the 42 normal songs on medium, not sure where i’m gonna go from there but overall the game is FUNNNN.

I R SORREH!

OK so I got lazy again and havn’t written anything down here for a few weeks now… but to my defense I have been ultra busy at work (One day even going in 2 hours early and still leaving late). A few exciting things have happened tho… I met an absolutely amazing girl by the name of Rebecca and have really hit it off, lightning struck a tree 2 doors down from me and has caused alot of problems with alot of my networking gear, and i’ve managed to “stay out of trouble” for a few weeks now (but me and trouble are like THIS son *imagine fingers being crossed*)

I’m getting a bit bored of PC gaming again so over the next week or so i’m gonna be picking up a bit more shit for my 360 (I got a chat pad on sunday, gonna pick up guitar hero 3 in a few days, and a wifi kit because the storm killed the ethernet port on my poor lil xbox :( )

Anyway my interwebs keep going up and down like a yoyo so i’m gonna watch these 2 movies I rented out and then get some shut eye.

side note: i’ve been doing a whole lot of walking arround my local area before and after work lately just to get a bit more exercise in, and with the video store/supermarket doing cheap as fuck movies doing the week its a pretty good idea to hire a few on the way home, then return them on the way to work :) The store isnt exactly on my way to work (read opposite direction) so the motivation is low but ever since I picked up this ipod ive been loving getting new music a few times a week and taking the time to listen to it in depth whilst getting exercise at the same time as I find listening to music on my computer really seems to go in one ear and out the other in comparison.

it was… nice!

Quiet weekend at home, did a whole lot of nothing :)  Went for a nice stroll down to the eight miles plain shops to check out the Deli there, and I must say they have a whole lot of tasty shit there. I ended up bringing home a quater wheel of Brie and some Danish Salami both of which were pretty damn tasty, cant wait to shop there again hehe.

I played a few hours of the new UT3 demo, and it looks pretty cool. Dosn’t run terribly well on my machine at the minute, so I can see myself getting a new video card for christmas :) Whats especially fun about UT3 is the vehicle CTF. Normally vehicles ruin a game, but you honestly need to see this game played before you can pass judgement on it. The vehicles armor is incredibly weak, the link gun takes forever to repair a vehicle, and the really big one: everybody gets hover boards instead of translocators! On the hover board you cannot shoot, cannot pick up items, and if you cop a single bit of damage you will fall off your board. You can however carry the flag, and link onto any friendly vehicle for a tow (including the raptors, which can swoop in, you link up to them, and they can tow you into the air and off to your flag point!). However as I stated before, 1 single bit of damage and you fall off your board, mid air is no different, so if a raptor is towing a guy off, a well placed sniper rifle shot will send the dude to his doom! I got my face raped at TDM and dueling, i’m blaming my PC’s stop/start framerate for now… see how I go with a new vid card :)

Last night I watched a brilliant movie,  Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. Its one of those soppy love stories, but it’s the type of movie that digs really deep… very hard to explain without spoiling but its defiantly something people should watch even if they normally don’t like soppy love stories (which I normally don’t :P)

Ok so the day wasn’t too bad. The phones were fair calm, the one customer I thought would haunt me all day didn’t give a peep… had one server (get this)… fkn chuck a spaz attack because the sata caddies come unclipped and just wouldnt clip back in. Its the case of the loose vagina… no ok im not even gonna explain that HAHAH. I did some vacuming and we got a reception desk and shit, need some acrylic ass signage behind it and a pretty secretary to sit there (im thinkin of applying) and we are all set. not sure what for but we will be set for it.

So ive been procrastinating since I got home about where/what to eat tonight. Do I go out and have nice restuarant meal somewhere, do I goto garbo and get a pub meal… half an hour later it degenerated to “do I go pick up some groceries from spa?”, and now that its nearly 11pm its a case of “bad luck son, SERVO FOOD FOR YOU TONIGHT!”. total poofjah.
